Shine Brighter, Clap Louder

Clap For Your Damn Self!!
That's the lesson every child should be taught as soon as they're big enough to do so. Yep...My youngest is 7 months and she be clappin'!! It builds confidence and strength when it comes to dealing with other people.
My son got in the car chanting his name Moana style and so the appropriate response is "You're So Awesome!" I was completely excited just because he was so excited. We chanted together twice before I said OK WHY!?
Laughing, he told me he earned Super Star Student Of The Week!!! Now I got loud for real "GO YOU! GO YOU! AAAAHH!! YOU'RE SO AWESOME!!"
Wait! Okay Why!?
His teacher and classmates felt that he was the most responsible student in class and for that he is a star. At that point my Mommy thoughts went left...I wish he was that damn responsible about cleaning his room and doing chores!! But of course, I smiled big and said "That's Great Baby!" He was given a bumper sticker and we put it on my car. Very proud Mom!
I love when my children shine because it reminds me that I too need to continue to shine. As the quote goes, "And as we let our own light shine, we subconsciously give other people permission to do the same."  Most of the time, those people are children.

About a week ago I saw that my good friend Tatiauna was writing a regular column for a news site. I thought it was great so I asked her for the details and if they had any more positions available. Turns out they did and I am now a featured writer for Newzbreaker!!
www.newzbreaker.com
I am thankful and so excited!! My column is called the Neighborhood Watch. It's a commentary on (strange) people and watching the craziness of this world. There are current events, book reviews and music as well. Check it out!
So far everyone really enjoys my writing but I am well aware you can't share every good thing with everyone. There are those that called to congratulate me or they text with fiftyleven exclamation points and 70 emojis and shared my articles as many times as they could.
You're Awesome! Thank You!!
Then there are those that couldn't match my vibe for 2 seconds. Pay attention to the ones that dont clap for you. People like that are always interesting...they will flip it and talk about themselves and in doing so quickly reveal their negative perspective of their life. They cant be too excited because they would rather me be stuck to just work, pay bills and die right along with them. Not Gonna Happen!! I have 3 awesome children to raise. My shine effects their shine.
Children are not the end of the world and killers of dreams, they are more reason to go for your dreams. Do your best at everything and remember to clap for your damn self...And LOUD!! Don't ever be afraid to shine, someone is always watching...waiting for permission to shine too.

Good Grass & Green Eyed Monsters

I have encountered quite a few green eyed monsters lately that don't undertand I have the same free will they do. The only difference is what we decide to do with it. Still, so many think the grass is greener on the other side but in reality, its just greener where I watered it. Life is the lawn but the water is sacrifice, hard work and taking full responsibility for that life. My "lawn" is getting better but there's still quite a few patches that need some tlc. The parts that are lush and green are great but there shouldn't be much envy or jealousy if people use their free will wisely. I've been told I'm so lucky I don't have bad children. Its almost like the idea is bad behavior is a standard feature of children. I prefer to say I'm blessed, no doubt. The reason they aren't Bebe's kids is because I sacrifice and make a serious conscious effort to pour all my love, knowledge and attention into them. Like most parents, I've also d...

Its Lit!!

I am always teaching, always building my children's world, every day whether I know it or not and even when I forget. They understand that home is wherever we are together, its how we do things together, its what we do for each other. Our life is modest but we have so much love and lots of fun. If you see me, you see them. But I have been so caught up in building their material and emotional world, I almost forgot to keep giving them light. Children are bright in their own right but if its not nurtured theres a chance their light might get dim. If that happens, sometimes children are unable distinguish between artificial or other people's light and their own. Thats when they might start following the wrong crowd, mimicking behavoirs or trying to be like a celebrity. Its bound to happen, its part of growing up but too much of that can make them lose their way. Until a certain time, even the brightest children need a source of light not just to guide them but to keep them lit. ...

Let's Talk Numbers...

In 47 Days I will be 35 years old with 3 children ages 12, 9 and 1. I have 8 days before I become a volleyball coach again but 107 until we go through "Terrible 2's", there are 86 days until Christmas and 92 days until New Years... If Katrina is 6'2, 165lbs, how many times will she lose her mind in the meantime??? The answer is ZERO. Every year I go through a phase leading up to Scorpio season and to my birthday where I dedicate myself to something important to me for 30 days. We have a blast for Halloween, then the 15 days before my birthday, I tie up loose ends, get rid of old things including people and clean. This saves me and other people from the dreadfully ubiquitous "New Year, New Me!" posts later on social media. I'm thankful my birthday is in November so I can scroll and laugh, laugh and scroll. They be Lyyyiiiiiiiin!! 😂 No matter what I dedicate my 30 days to, I always try do a system flush: deep meditations and a body cleanse at the ...
